What We Do

Parent Resource Center

The Parent Resource Center, created by Families in Action, was established to promote and expand parent-centered child and adolescent substance abuse prevention. Our mission is to support parents, schools, and communities, as well as public and private agencies and organizations, who desire to increase parent involvement in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use by children and adolescents. www.ncparentresourcecenter.org

Local Programs

Families in Action is fully committed to raising awareness of substance abuse prevention issues. The Speakers Bureau was developed to help educate everyone on various prevention topics.

The Speakers Bureau is a free service made available to groups and organizations. Professional staff members are available to share their knowledge and expertise on a variety of substance abuse prevention topics to raise awareness, educate the public, and promote substance abuse prevention to everyone.

Faith Based Programs

The faith community has a long tradition of preventing child and adolescent substance abuse by working to build strong families and healthy communities. A volunteer Parent Leader working within his or her own faith community is an effective way of reaching other parents with important information to keep children healthy, safe and drug-free.
